Organic Foods
The US Dept of Agriculture has put in place a set of national standards that labeled “organic” must meet, whether it is grown in the US or imported from other countries.
|
|
Organic food is produced by farmers who emphasize the use of renewable resources and the conservation of soil and water to enhance environmental quality for future generations. Organic meat, poultry, eggs, and dairy products come from animals that are given no antibiotics or growth hormones. Organic food is produced without using most conventional pesticides.
Before a product is labeled “organic”, a Government – approved certifier inspects the farm where the food is grown to make sure the farmer is following all rules necessary to meet USDA organic standards. We integrate our organic items with the National Brands throughout the store – there are some in every aisle!

Non Genetically Modified Food
Genetically modified foods are foods produced from genetically modified organisms that have had their DNA altered through genetic engineering. GM foods were first marketed in the early 1990’s and most commonly are derived from plants: soybeans, corn, canola, and cottonseed oil. By genetically altering some crops, farmers can prevent some diseases and create insect protection traits
The GM food controversy is a dispute over the advantages and disadvantages of genetically modified food crops. No major health hazards have come to light since GM food was introduced in 1994..

Omega 3 Fatty Acids
Omega 3 fatty acids are polyunsaturated fats that are essential for health promotion and disease prevention. There is an ever growing body of research that indicates that healthy fats help prevent a wide range of medical problems, including cardiovascular disease, depression, asthma and rheumatoid arthritis. Current research has strong ties to preventing cancers, especially breast cancer.
